SEGNI SUL VOLTO, seminario/workshop ideato da Carla Riccoboni in collaborazione con Le Arti Orafe, si aprirà con una serie di relazioni trasmesse su piattaforma online, condotte da professionisti di diversi settori di competenza, incentrate sul tema del progetto ovvero sulla relazione tra segno e identità, analizzata da una pluralità di prospettive. Gli appuntamenti, concentrati nel mese di ottobre saranno l’occasione per ripercorrere e indagare i significati espressivi e simbolici della decorazione del viso nel corso della storia e dell’attualità in differenti contesti geografici, fino a scoprire gli orizzonti che si stanno delineando per il futuro con l’avvento delle nuove tecnologie.
Nel suo intervento per SEGNI SUL VOLTO, l’antropologo Francesco Bravin spiegherà come si forma l’identità, aprendo una prospettiva per comprendere le motivazioni più profonde del bisogno umano di trasformazione/decorazione del corpo.
“Partiremo con un’introduzione al tema dell’antropopoiesi, cioè il processo con cui una società plasma l’identità degli individui che ne fanno parte, anche attraverso segni sul corpo e sul volto, sia temporanei sia permanenti. Vedremo poi come si delinea l’habitus, cioè quell’insieme di elementi visivi e comportamentali che non solo rendono evidente l’appartenenza a una certa società o a un certo gruppo sociale, ma in un certo senso contribuiscono a costruirla. Ci occuperemo quindi di comprendere come atti linguistici e simbolici possano contribuire a plasmare la realtà sociale e a costruire l’identità individuale e collettiva. Infine, metteremo in discussione i concetti di tradizione e di autenticità e sveleremo come esse siano il frutto di precisi processi storici e politici.”

Francesco Bravin è un antropologo culturale, dottore di ricerca presso l’università di Genova, e si è occupato soprattutto di antropologia dell’alimentazione e di antropologia del turismo da una prospettiva drammaturgica, attenta agli atti linguistici e simbolici che plasmano la realtà sociale. È presidente e fondatore dell’associazione Antropolis, che a Milano si occupa di promuovere la divulgazione dell’antropologia anche al di fuori dei contesti accademici, e socio fondatore dell’Associazione Nazionale Professionale Italiana di Antropologia, che si occupa di promuovere l’antropologia professionale. Collabora con l’università eCampus e con Accademia del Lusso.

SEGNI SUL VOLTO (SIGNS OVER THE FACE), a seminar/workshop conceived by Carla Riccoboni in collaboration with Le Arti Orafe, will open with a series of lectures transmitted on an online platform, conducted by professionals from various fields of expertise, focusing on the theme of the project or on the relationship between sign and identity, analysed from a variety of perspectives. The appointments, concentrated in the month of October, will be an opportunity to retrace and investigate the expressive and symbolic meanings of facial decoration throughout history and in the present day in different geographical contexts, and to discover the horizons that are emerging for the future with the advent of new technologies.
In his speech for SEGNI SUL VOLTO, anthropologist Francesco Bravin will explain how identity is formed, opening up a perspective to understand the deeper motivations of the human need to transform/decorate the body.
“We will start with an introduction to the theme of anthropopoiesis, that is, the process by which a society shapes the identity of the individuals who are part of it, also through signs on the body and face, both temporary and permanent. We will then see how the habitus is delineated, that is, the set of visual and behavioural elements that not only make it evident that one belongs to a certain society or social group, but in a certain sense contribute to its construction. We will then be concerned with understanding how linguistic and symbolic acts can contribute to shaping social reality and constructing individual and collective identity. Finally, we will question the concepts of tradition and authenticity and reveal how they are the result of precise historical and political processes.”

Francesco Bravin is a cultural anthropologist, PhD from the University of Genoa, and has worked mainly on the anthropology of food and the anthropology of tourism from a dramaturgical perspective, attentive to the linguistic and symbolic acts that shape social reality. He is president and founder of the association Antropolis, which in Milan promotes the dissemination of anthropology outside academic contexts, and a founding member of the Italian National Professional Association of Anthropology, which promotes professional anthropology. He collaborates with eCampus University and Accademia del Lusso.
