SEGNI SUL VOLTO, seminario/workshop ideato da Carla Riccoboni in collaborazione con Le Arti Orafe, si aprirà con una serie di relazioni trasmesse su piattaforma online, condotte da professionisti di diversi settori di competenza, incentrate sul tema del progetto ovvero sulla relazione tra segno e identità, analizzata da una pluralità di prospettive. Gli appuntamenti, concentrati nel mese di ottobre saranno l’occasione per ripercorrere e indagare i significati espressivi e simbolici della decorazione del viso nel corso della storia e dell’attualità in differenti contesti geografici, fino a scoprire gli orizzonti che si stanno delineando per il futuro con l’avvento delle nuove tecnologie.
Per SEGNI SUL VOLTO, la prof. Bernabei presenterà un breve viaggio nel mondo della comunicazione non verbale: partendo dalle linee permanenti, si approderà ai segni virtuali sul volto umano.
“I segni permanenti sul nostro viso, come decorazione per comunicare con i nostri simili, nascono con il tatuaggio. In questo contesto verranno discussi i tatuaggi del popolo dei Maori, nonché varie tecniche come la scarificazione ed i loro significati sociali. Un’altra riflessione verrà fatta sulla funzione della decorazione del corpo tra gli esponenti della Yakuza giapponese. Spostandosi geograficamente in Russia, tra la metà degli anni Settanta e la fine degli anni Ottanta, verranno analizzati i vory, ovvero le storie criminali personali tatuate sul corpo di detenuti russi. Dopo i tatuaggi, si passerà ad analizzare altre forme di modificazione del viso come per esempio il make up o il lifting, in cui le linee sottocutanee non sono realizzate con inchiostri bensì con acido ialuronico. La chiave di lettura culturale e individuale di queste forme di ornamenti verrà proposta considerando i contenuti nella loro forma espressiva. In conclusione verrà analizzato il ruolo del segno effimero sul volto umano in contrapposizione al ruolo di quello permanente, con particolare attenzione a ‘filters’ e augmented reality.”

SEGNI SUL VOLTO (SIGNS OVER THE FACE), a seminar/workshop conceived by Carla Riccoboni in collaboration with Le Arti Orafe, will open with a series of lectures transmitted on an online platform, conducted by professionals from various fields of expertise, focusing on the theme of the project or on the relationship between sign and identity, analysed from a variety of perspectives. The appointments, concentrated in the month of October, will be an opportunity to retrace and investigate the expressive and symbolic meanings of facial decoration throughout history and in the present day in different geographical contexts, and to discover the horizons that are emerging for the future with the advent of new technologies.
For SEGNI SUL VOLTO, Prof. Bernabei will present a short journey into the world of non-verbal communication: starting from permanent lines, we will arrive at virtual signs on the human face.
“Permanent marks on our face, as a decoration to communicate with our fellow human beings, originated with the tattoo. In this context, the tattoos of the Maori people will be discussed, as well as various techniques such as scarification and their social meanings. Another reflection will be made on the function of body decoration among the exponents of the Japanese Yakuza. Moving geographically to Russia, between the mid-1970s and the end of the 1980s, vory, namely personal criminal histories tattooed on the bodies of Russian prisoners, will be analysed. After the tattoos, other forms of facial modification will be analysed, such as make-up or lifting, in which the subcutaneous lines are not made with inks but with hyaluronic acid. The cultural and individual interpretation of these forms of ornamentation will be proposed by considering the contents in their expressive form. In conclusion, the role of the ephemeral sign on the human face will be analysed as opposed to the role of the permanent one, with particular attention to ‘filters’ and augmented reality.”
